A blog post for you

Today my wonderful Papa reminded me that it has been 2 months since my last blog post. SO much has been going on in the past 2 months, that I have tons to catch you up on! Let's dive right in!

We have gotten all settled in to our little house on Greeley Ave. The fur kids (Eisley and Henry) love their new digs and spend hours chasing each other around the back yard. Henry is no longer a fat cat- the hours he spends hunting moths in the garden has taken a couple of inches off of him very quickly! Eisley has turned the backyard into her own private Nascar track, and has learned that old potatoes from the garden and are an excellent play toy.

As for Ross and me, we have been very busy living up the Portland summer weather and enjoying being engaged! Ross has participated in several bike races this summer and done very well. His team, HPC/Alpine Mortgage, has the most wins of any other team in the area. It has been great to get to see Ross excel on such a great team and for me to get to know his teammates and their girl friends/wives. This past weekend was the Portland Twilight Criterium- it is an intense, very fast, and very dangerous race in the park blocks of downtown Portland. Hundreds, if not thousands, or people come out to watch the race and enjoy the bike festivities. Ross and his teammates were having an excellent race, when at 15 minutes left in the race, a racer crashed out in front of Ross, and took him down. He got some pretty severe road rash and his bike is pretty much destroyed, but thankfully nothing more serious. As he said when I got to the medic tent, "I didn't hit my face and I have a ring finger!"... I guess that's all I can ask for! We are both being extra careful on our bikes over the next 2 weeks so we aren't bruised up for the wedding!

Speaking of which, Ross is teaching me how to ride cross bikes so hopefully I can compete in my first bike race this fall. More to come on that after the wedding!

As any true organizational expert would have, I of course have a "to do before I die" list... aka a bucket list. Granted I am very young and don't have to worry about getting things checked off too soon, but it never hurts to get a head start right? Over the past 2 months I was able to check off a very big item off of my list. I completed a half marathon!

My goal was simply finish and run the whole time... I finished in 1 hour and 52 minutes, which set a personal record for me on running time! Woo hoo!

Although this has not been the warmest or most sunny summer we have ever had, our garden has flourished under Ross' green thumb. Here are some shots of our produce:

Elephant Garlic

Check out the size of those zucchini leaves!

Portland roses!

We have zucchini and squash coming out EVERYWHERE! Seriously, the plants have taken over! We give away giant zucchinis every week- they are literally like 5 pound human baby sized squash! AH! Our tomatoes have started turning red this week, and our 6 plants should be giving us enough tomatoes to feed an entire Italian village quite soon. Bring on the pizza, salsa, and pasta dishes!

As you know, the wedding is QUICKLY approaching... 11 days in fact! Tomorrow the "official" count down begins. (I think I am allowed to obsess starting 10 days before, right?) I will get to town late Sunday night, and then wedding week will officially begin! We can't wait to see you soon to celebrate!
