No we haven't dropped off the face of the earth... but it kind of feels that way!
Over the past week we flew to NC, dropped off Henry at the Bowdens, found a place to live in Chapel Hill, flew back to Portland, spent countless hours packing up our home, said good-bye to our belongings on a giant moving truck (we won't get them back until April 28th), and headed out on our SECOND cross-country road trip!
The first day we traveled south down I-5 out of Oregon and jumped on the scenic US Highway 101. We curved down to the Redwood Forest where we camped our first night. Lots of fun stories to tell you about that!
Day 2 we kept heading south down 101 until we got to San Francisco, where I ran across the Golden Gate Bridge (no, not because Ross pushed me out of the car... because I WANTED to). The bridge is 1.7 miles long- it was nice to stretch my legs and see the city and Alcatraz along the way.
We then took a short detour through the city, driving down the famous Lombard Street, then sat gridlocked in traffic for 1 hour (we moved 3 blocks). By the time we got out of the city, we were thankful for wide open roads and pushed it all the way south to Bakersfield last night (just north of LA). We are planning to skip LA and head east into Arizona, stopping in Sedona or Flagstaff tonight.
Pictures and more details to come- just wanted to give a quick update!
